A-Gas Attends 35th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol

A leader of reclaimed refrigerants will educate on Lifecycle Refrigerant Management

A-Gas, a world leader in responsible lifecycle refrigerant management, announces its attendance at the 35th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer (MOP 35). Following a successful attendance last year, A-Gas will return to the meeting this year, in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 23-27. A-Gas representatives include Mike Armstrong, Managing Director and President of the Americas; Louise McCann, Group Commercial Director and Managing Director of Asia-Pacific; and Michael Labacher, Head of Sales and Environmental Services for Africa.

Relying on the development and use of lower global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants alone is not enough to reduce emissions globally, Lifecycle Refrigerant Management alongside the transition to lower GWP refrigerants will support the circular economy and reduce emissions during the global HFC phasedown.

Refrigerant gases can be ozone depleting and /or global warming, nonetheless they play a critical role in our society—like powering cooling units in vehicles, trains, ships, and aviation, and keeping our food supply safe. However, according to the Climate and Ozone Protection Alliance (COPA), the yearly global emissions of Ozone Depleting Substances and HFCs are comparable to 1.5 gigatons of carbon dioxide these are the same as the emissions released by 441 coal-fueled power stations. A-Gas has been a consistent leader in the reclaimed refrigerant industry for the past three decades, ensuring that refrigerants are recovered and reclaimed for future reuse or destroyed rather than vented to the atmosphere. Our reclaimed refrigerants meet AHRI quality requirements which are equivalent to virgin grade specifications and our TEAP-approved destruction technology can safely destroy refrigerants >99.999%. By investing in state-of-the-art refrigerant recovery, separation, reclamation, and destruction technology and services, A-Gas has developed a market-leading approach to lifecycle refrigerant management enabling industry to responsibly manage their installed banks.

A-Gas’ approach to lifecycle refrigerant management is an example of the circular economy in operation— ensuring refrigerants are recovered, avoiding their release to atmosphere, securing the continued supply of reclaimed refrigerants, and supporting the transition to lower GWP products.
