“The world is sitting on a vast bank of refrigerants installed in equipment, and A-Gas understands the magnitude of this issue.”
Group Sustainability and Compliance Manager, Elvira Nigido,
This year, we’re celebrating 10 years of action for a cooler planet under the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol - a powerful reminder that progress will happen when compliance is strong and participation is global.
Many refrigerants currently in circulation - including CFCs, HCFCs and HFCs - can have significant environmental impacts, if released. Some contribute to ozone depletion, while others have a high global warming potential and can remain in the atmosphere for many years.
At A-Gas, we believe responsible refrigerant management is essential to protecting and enhancing our planet’s future. Through lifecycle refrigerant management (LRM), we're advancing circularity - ensuring critical gases are recovered, reclaimed for re-use, or safely destroyed to prevent their release into the atmosphere.
"While the Kigali Agreement, under the Montreal Protocol, tackles the front end of the refrigerant lifecycle by reducing the production and consumption of high-GWP HFCs, Life Cycle Refrigerant Management addresses the back end by achieving emission reductions through responsible recovery, reclamation for re-use or the destruction of refrigerants when they’re longer required."
