Solomon Islands Ratify the Kigali Amendment
The Solomon Islands has ratified the Kigali Amendment, making the South Pacific archipelago the 132nd country to ratify the amendment.
The ratification of the Kigali Amendment commits countries to the phasedown of HFC refrigerants. Countries who pledge commit to cutting the consumption and production of HFCs by 80% by in the next 30 years.
It is estimated that countries ratifying the Amendment will prevent an approximate 80 billion tonnes of CO2 equivalent of emissions by 2050.
