AGAS - Together we can

Race Across America for Mental Health Awareness

A-Gas partners with ultra-endurance road cyclist, Rupert Guinness, at RAAM 2022.

A-Gas is proud to announce its sponsorship of Rupert Guinness as he takes on the Race Across America to raise awareness of mental health and its far-reaching challenges to many people, which has been magnified by the impact of the global pandemic.

For 38 years, Race Across America, or RAAM, has challenged ultra-cyclists from around the globe and is known as the world’s toughest bicycle race. Rupert and his team will be tested both physically and mentally as they work together strategically non-stop around the clock over a 12-day period. Teamwork and efficiency will be key to achieving his goal, supporting each other every step of the way, which closely parallels with the A-Gas’ values, and Together We Can culture.

“Rupert is a unique and inspirational individual, who embraces many of the values we all aspire to achieve. His courage and commitment to mental health awareness and his openness in discussing these topics is truly uplifting."

“Rupert is a unique and inspirational individual, who embraces many of the values we all aspire to achieve. His courage and commitment to mental health awareness and his openness in discussing these topics is truly uplifting," comments Andrew Ambrose, Executive Chairman, A-Gas, "His focus, enthusiasm, and determination to conquer the Race Across America (RAAM) is shared and backed up by his team in their preparation for this truly challenging event. I am delighted that A-Gas has partnered with Rupert and his team and hope you will all join me in monitoring their progress across America.”

After the pandemic delayed his Race Across America attempt for the previous 2 years, the journalist and best-selling author aims to ride 4,900kms (3,000 miles) from Oceanside, Los Angeles to Annapolis, Maryland in just 12 days, riding an average of 400kms (250 miles) per day through deserts, plains and over 3 major mountain ranges to achieve his goal. In preparation, Rupert recently completed the event Revolve24, where he rode 624kms (387 miles) in just 24 hours to achieve official qualification for RAAM 2022.

It’s great to be teaming up with A-Gas for my Race Across America next month. I have completed a number of solo challenges throughout my career, but this time it’s all about teamwork."

“It’s great to be teaming up with A-Gas for my Race Across America next month. I have completed a number of solo challenges throughout my career, but this time it’s all about teamwork," comments Rupert Guinness, "I’m undertaking RAAM as it will test the body and the mind and I’m taking on the challenge to heighten the awareness of mental health. There’s no doubting the power of the mind in these type of events, but teamwork is everything. Looking out for each other with good communication across the entire event will ensure we safely and efficiently achieve our goals. Thank you A-Gas for your partnership; Together, We Can.”
