A-Gas Showcases Practical Pathways for Lifecycle Refrigerant Management at MOP37 in Nairobi
Nairobi, Kenya, October 2025. At the 37th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol (MOP37), A-Gas will highlight the critical role of Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) in achieving immediate, scalable and cost-effective climate mitigation.
Refrigerants, vital for cooling systems worldwide, are also among the most potent greenhouse gases. A-Gas will demonstrate how LRM advances the circular economy of refrigerants around the globe through recovery, reclamation and destruction (where reclamation is no longer viable) and prevents the release and harmful environmental impact of refrigerant emissions while securing refrigerant banks necessary for maintaining equipment to cool communities and industries.
A Practical Climate Solution
Lifecycle Refrigerant Management is a proven, near-term strategy to address short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) such as HFCs, which have atmospheric lifetimes of 10-20 years and global warming potentials thousands of times higher than CO₂.
By integrating refrigerant management into national climate strategies, countries can achieve measurable results within a decade, bridging the gap toward 2030 and 2050 targets.

During the session, A-Gas will showcase successful regional models from Africa, Asia and Europe that illustrate how Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) hubs- focused on recovery, reclamation and destruction- can scale rapidly with the right combination of targeted policy measures and finance support.
