At a Glance
As Singapore advances its sustainability goals and the phasedown of high global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, the HVAC&R industry faces growing pressure to improve refrigerant recovery rates and ensure used gases are managed safely and responsibly.
Supermarkets represent a significant source of refrigerant use and must ensure gases from decommissioned systems are properly recovered and managed to prevent their release into the atmosphere.
Challenges
- Preventing the release of refrigerant from decommissioned supermarket refrigeration systems into the atmosphere.
- Improve refrigerant recovery to support Singapore’s sustainability goals and phasedown of high GWP refrigerants.
Benefits
- Efficient recovery and responsible management of refrigerants.
- Access to recovery equipment, cylinders and training to ensure safe and efficient refrigerant handling.
Solution
Epta partnered with A-Gas to enhance refrigerant recovery and reclamation practices across Singapore.
As a licensed Toxic Industrial Waste Collector (TIWC) authorised by the National Environment Agency (NEA), A-Gas processes recovered refrigerants from supermarkets serviced by Epta. A-Gas Singapore’s processing facility is equipped with advanced reclamation technology and an on-site laboratory, enabling the recovery, processing and testing of refrigerants to AHRI Standard 700 specifications.
A-Gas also provides advanced recovery equipment, quality recovery cylinders, and training to ensure safe and efficient refrigerant handling.
Results
Together, A-Gas and Epta are helping the HVAC&R industry improve refrigerant recovery rates, preventing harmful emissions. The ongoing partnership supports Singapore’s sustainable goals by promoting responsible refrigerant management.
At Epta, we are committed to driving sustainability across the commercial refrigeration sector. Partnering with A-Gas allows us to ensure that recovered refrigerants from decommissioned systems are managed responsibly, helping the industry reduce emissions.
