A-Gas Contributes to Global Refrigerant Management Discussions at Ozone2Climate 2026
The global conversation around sustainable refrigerant management continues to gain momentum, with industry leaders, policymakers and technical experts gathering in Beijing for the 2026 Ozone2Climate (O2C) Technology Roadshow and Industry Roundtable, held alongside China Refrigeration Expo from 8–10 April.
The Ozone2Climate (O2C) Technology Roadshow and Industry Roundtable is a flagship initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) OzonAction, established to promote ozone and climate friendly technologies through global and regional knowledge sharing platforms. As part of China’s HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) for the refrigeration servicing sector, the annual event has evolved into a major international forum for government and industry collaboration on sustainable refrigeration and air-conditioning technologies.
This year’s event brought together representatives from government agencies, international organisations, industry associations, universities and private industry to discuss the evolving regulatory landscape, emerging technologies and practical approaches supporting the transition to more sustainable refrigerant management practices.
A-Gas was proud to contribute to these discussions, with Group Commercial and Sustainability Director Louise McCann presenting on “Establishing Lifecycle Refrigerant Management in Article 5 Countries” as part of the conference’s “Good Practice in the Servicing Sector” program.
The presentation explored how Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) programs are being implemented across different regions and highlighted the growing importance of developing effective recovery, reclamation and carbon methodologies in Article 5 (A5) countries.
Joining Louise at the event were Christy Ma, General Manager of A-Gas China, Ivan De Jager, Head of Sales and Operations, and Thomas Sands, Maintenance and Technical Engineer from A-Gas South Africa.
The Asia-Pacific region remains the world’s largest producer and consumer of HCFCs and HFCs, with China accounting for more than 70% of global production and consumption of these refrigerants. As accelerated HCFC phase-out and HFC phase-down schedules continue to progress, it is expected that related policies, regulations and procedures surrounding refrigerant recovery, reclamation and destruction will continue to develop across the region.
For A-Gas, the event provided an important opportunity to engage with environmental protection departments in Article 5 (A5) countries, particularly China, to discuss the development of local recovery, reclamation and carbon methodologies, while exploring opportunities to further promote Lifecycle Refrigerant Management (LRM) programs throughout these regions.
